Typographic layouts.

good.

To Do.

From the refrigerator to the computer screen, the purse to the bathroom mirror: to-dos, commands, reminders, mantras and more have graced these ubiquitous three inch squares around the world. Illegal Art took them to the street to create three installations that were assembled with up to 6,500 individual Post-its for the passerby to jot, scribble and draw their pressing, and not so pressing tasks and pearls of wisdom.

This is a piece I found and just thought it was really interesting and relevant to our group brief in that it makes people interested by creating a statement. This is down to the scale and colour of the medium used, in this case post it notes. However this shows how something so simple can create real interest when placed within the environment

Type within the environment.

Here are a few examples of type within the environment. Although not directly in the public domain, as they appear to be in an abandoned house, they show a few different ways of producing and using type.

Nice type treatments.

Some really interesting type treatments which I found, unfortunately they also made use of stencilling what looks like flour or sugar, however they dealt with it quite differently.

Text within the environment.

Here are a few examples of type posters that are placed into the environment. These are quite interesting as they question whether people are reading it within the poster itself.

Quote posters.

These are a series of really nice typographic quote posters by POGO. I think our group could take inspiration from these, however they don't stick to 2 colours plus stock... and I think the colours used is part of their appeal.

Little Britain riddle.

Ray: I'm hard yet soft, I am coloured yet clear, I am fruity and sweet. I am jelly. What am I?

Donald: Jelly.

Ray: Yeeeeees.

Pulp Fiction quote.

There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. .45 here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin, Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.

"Mmm-mmmm. That is a tasty burger. Vincent, ever have a Big Kahuna Burger?"
