Design for Frame magazine by Neubau, really like the composition of the title on the front cover, whereby the type sits flush with the barcodes and pricing information. The layouts seem fairly standard with the inclusion of some fairly interesting typesetting for titles where the letters are all jumbled up. Not sure this is entirely necessary, I think it would work much better with just simple type for headers like in the spread above.

Book design for Herb Lubalin that is really well presented and beautifully packaged. Really simple cover design which is applied throughout in the form of title pages which are printed the same colour as the cover or dustwrap.

It is really nicely packaged in a simple cardboard cover, that would be both protective and a nice contrast to the bright colour of the cover and white of the pages.  Might be worth thinking about this type of packaging for our SF guide...

Another example of a really well produced open bind, with colours from the bind making an appearance throughout the book in the dividing pages. Along with the bind is some really interesting layouts, using an offset single column layout, with text wrapped around the images, certain pages are printed grey which I think makes a nice opposite to the info pages next to them.

Hey - Laus - Open Binding

Publication, again by Hey, making use of a really nice open bind which I think is interesting research for our alternative travel guide. Also here they use a number of coloured threads, with a binding technique that I think is only possible mechanically, however still interesting to see. Nice to see that the threads seem randomised across the range and different combinations of colours can be achieved down the spine of each book.
