More Vinyl

A few vinyl cover ideas and although I don't know what band they are for, they look like they belong to the music of a very current band. I like how the line patterns on the second design are visible yet not too imposing on the other imagery, however the first is in complete contrast. With very two very different and imposing pieces juxta-posed in a way that highlights the differences. These are designed to stand out from other vinyls however I imagine the type of people purchasing vinyl would be quite serious about music and would already know what they want. This would be seen in a vinyl store and probably on the bands website in order to make the aesthetic memorable as there isn't much information on the cover for someone to go from, like a title or band name.

Lyon Architecture Urbaine

This is a really interestingly designed book about the architecture of Lyon. I particularly like the use of one spot colour throughout the book for type and the majority of  the imagery, especially seen as though its such a bright colour. Although the website and the book itself are in French, I managed to determine that it's a book designed to share information from 64 sources with experience in the field of architecture and to raise public awareness of the redevelopment of the urban architecture of Lyon. I imagine this would be seen by inhabitants of Lyon or by businesses interested in development given to them by the council. I think its a really clear and well presented guide for those interested.

Sinlge colour subway map.

A one colour subway map for the Manhattan subway designed to help passengers navigate the service. It would be seen anywhere there is a metro service, so at the stations and probably tourist information. I think it's a really effective method of delivery and keeping it a simple as possible will help in concise communication.

Triboro Design - Leftovers.

Here is a series by Triboro design called leftovers. Here is the description from the website. 

Triboro Leftovers is a compilation of unpublished type treatments, photos,sketches, illustrations andlogo explorations that wehave created over the years. Rather than allow these to remain lost on our hard drives we decided to set them free. We mashed together elements from hundreds of different projects—and in the process—deliberately stripped the elements of their original context and meaning. The results are visual remixes which stand on their own.

I think simply as a collection of visuals they work really nicely and I think as an idea it's really nice, bringing together everything that wasn't used in one series. this would be meant as a book I imagine and aimed at anyone interested in bespoke pieces. 

'Crass' Exhibition Booklet.

This is a booklet for an exhibition entitled 'Crass' and although I don't really like the visuals or design of the booklet I picked it out because of the way it was packaged. In a reflective cover like you'd get in computer parts and things that need to be free of static electricity. I think it's just a nice way to display it as opposed to a normal plastic bag, and may make people more interested in it. Designed for people at the exhibition I think it would certainly communicate to them.

Anthony Burrill

A series of bold statement posters by Anthony Burrill, about various concepts. I really like how Burrill uses very simple statements and imagery to create very visually engaging posters. they are also pieces that most people can relate to in some way or another. However Burrill's pieces are often just for the sake of it and don't seem to communicate for any reason in particular. The audience is anyone that would come across one of his statement pieces which can be seen almost anywhere. They appear in galleries as artworks and in magazines etc so can be seen often. he also screen printed a series of statement posters regarding the oil spills in America using the oil from it, which is quite clever...

Bonobo Vinyl

A few possible vinyl covers for Bonobo. A very current band and I think the visuals nicely reflect that. I particularly like the first example making use of a variety of square images which fit nicely within the boundaries of the cover. This is intended for fans of the band and I think this type of design will communicate with them, it may not be interesting for someone interested in much more clear cut design, however I quite like the raw style of this. As a vinyl it is another piece of design that would have to stand out from other when placed in a shop environment.
